Welcome to Van Damme Land - his decent adventure flick

Surprisingly I like the film which I think it is a decent adventure flick Jean-Claude Van Damme is the only good thing about this movie. I was really surprised by this movie how good it turned to be, it wasn't that bad like people were saying, I enjoy it - that is my opinion. This movie is not action, but it is adventure film and it has a humor. Jean-Claude Van Damme is great in this movie and he is the reason to watch this film. Adam Brody, Megan Boone and Jean-Claude Van Damme in this movie are really good.

No one died in this movie which is good. I really, really like in which Van Damme is attacked by a tiger on an island that was hilarious. I love the ending in which Van Damme uses a high kick on Phil's (Rob Huebel) head saving Chris life and that was practical effect real kick Van Damme real performed not stunt double did that kick I saw it. It was hilarious when Van Damme screams I really laughed at Van Damme.

The movie is about a company group who fly's to an remote island but their pilot of their plane dies and no one can fly a plane and no one knows where they are and their guide counselor Storm (Jean-Claude Van Damme) is eaten by a tiger. So now a company group coworker Phil (Rob Huebel) takes over the leadership of the group, drugs them and makes them in to a cannibal cult. The other team lead by Chris (Adam Brody) want to go on a separate way and they want to leave the island while Phil want's to stay and ruling the island. He doesn't see Chris (Adam Brody) as co worker anymore, but a treat. Chris, Brenda (Kristen Schaal), Lisa (Megan Boone) and Jared (Eric Edelstein) become a team on the other side of the island. They find Storm alive and they nurse him back. Now they decide to get the radio and leave a signal for a help but first they must fight with Phil and his army of thugs.

I really like the story, the adventure and the movie it self. I like Adam Brody and Megan Boone in the movie they were likeable characters and I just like the movie. I don't think it is so bad. I do wish Van Damme would have use more martial arts and his high kickbox kicks in the movie but his character survives. It is shame that it is written on IMDb genre action when it is not an action movie at all. I would say Tropic Thunder (2008) with Ben Stiller that movie has a lot of action and comedy and adventure that movie is action and not Welcoem to the Jungle and it is miles way better movie than this one, but this movie is still not bad. I do wish there would have be more action in to movie, more action sequences would have been fine, but it is what it is.

Welcome to the Jungle - Welcome to Van Damme Land is a decent adventure flick, I disagree with critics and haters about this movie. Van Damme tried something different and he succeeded at acting and he was good. He is acting performance was decent. Van Damme's son and daughter Kristopher Van Varenberg and Bianca Bree are also in this movie. The cast did all fine. Rob Meltzer did a competent directing job by directing this movie.

Stupid but genuinely funny

Alright first of all, this movie is dumb. Let's just get that out of the way first. You're looking for an intelligent, movie? Look somewhere else.

OK now that that's covered, this movie is hilarious. It's not a serious, realistic, or high-budget movie, and it knows that. Definitely doesn't take itself seriously at all, which just compounds the humor exponentially. This movie is very self-aware that it's an exaggerated caricature of the trope it's based on.

If you don't like swearing, poop jokes, or you're looking for a cerebral, deep story line, don't watch it. If you're planning on doing some lighthearted laughing for an hour and a half, put it on.

Enjoyable

The real-life link: The approach to how a relationship works. Lisa refused Phil because he was too direct when he told her he liked her. He was too direct because he was quite confident and did not care much of what she thought. He went after what he wanted directly. Did not leave time to for Lisa to develop any emotional attachment to him, he did not wait for the situations where they know each other more to happen and assumed a moment they shared at the airplane was enough for him to make the next move. Chris on the other hand, had a crush on Lisa but he did not make a move until he got confirmation that Lisa liked him as well. Lisa liked him when the circumstances put them in a position where she got the change to know him better. But at the end, no matter how much Lisa liked Chris things did not move to more until Chris did the first move, making Chris here the one who determined if they are going to be in a relationship or not. I have a problem with that. Movies like this give the impression that men are always the ones expected to make the first move and therefore in the real world if a woman makes the first move it is considered weird and usually freezes everything that was going on. This makes the men the one who always determines if two people are going to be in a relationship or not.

Plausibility: plausibility is a joke. First, Chris would be happy to go on a trip with Lisa rather than hating the trip because Phil was going to be there. Phil would never not leave the island in the end and he would be more reasonable in the tragic situation than he was.

Storytelling: well done. The story is developed in an interesting way that does not bore you.

The movie is however enjoyable with scenes that make you laugh and with a plot that is not so easily predictable.
